This was a few days before the ice storm. This was an unusual day, I normal don't have days like this. First thing that morning I sold a stock that was doing badly and lost $300.
Next as I was diving in to the parking lot I noticed I had a flat tire on my work truck. I pulled up and parked next to it as I normally do so I can transfer my lunch and stuff. I walked over to the vehicle maintenance to get a portable pump and he wasn't in yet so, I came back and opened the passenger door to get the jack out and knocked the mirror off my personnel truck. Knocked off as in broke it off because it was cold I guess. I got the tire changed and the vehicle maintenance guy still was not there to fix it. I called him and he wasn't going to be in until the next day. I had to drive around with out a spare.
Throughout the day I had several difficult disconnects. Some were time consuming and just plain hard.
The biggy was the naked lady...I went to the door and knocked and rang their door bell. I had a feeling someone was home but they wouldn't come to the door. It happens all the time. They had phone service and it was not shut completely off yet so legally I had to disconnect it in the NIU on the house. The gate is locked so I jumped the fence. I am bending over taking the cable out of the NIU also keeping an eye on the doggy door so I don't get a surprise pit bull attack and I hear the door open.
This naked lady clean down the the painted toe nails, throws the door open and proceeds to scream obscenities at me. Not a bad looking lady until she opened her foul mouth. She said something about calling my boss, I should not be in her yard, she mailed a payment, she wanted the phone off but not the cable, and all this was punctuated with the F word. She slammed the door so hard I thought the windows were going to break. I thought to myself I need to get the hell out of here fast but before I finished she threw the door open again, still naked, and started in on me again. This time she was talking crazier about if she had a shotgun she would shoot me. She slammed the door again. I wasted no time in jumping the fence and hauling ass out of there.
I called it in so the threat was documented on her account. I did one more disconnect and went home and had a Jose Cuervo Black and coke. What a day!!!

The ice storm from hell
The worst ice storm anyone can remember came through December 10th. It wrecked havoc on our trees. That in turn downed power lines and of course our cable lines. Monday I was outside trying to beat the ice off my fruit trees and tree limbs above my travel trailer so more limbs would not break. I already had a limb sticking through the roof of the trailer
We stayed home Sunday and Monday. We went to work Tuesday. I did two disconnects and came home. It was a war zone out there. Power lines were down and trees were still falling. We went to work Wed and was told we were going to help put up lines until further notice. We were all paired with a line technician, actually my guy was a QC person who was pulled from his job to help put up lines also.
I helped put up lines and QC contractors for a week and a half. We had contractors from several states helping us repair lines. We had to go out and check their work and make sure it was getting done and halfway right. We found a lot that wasn’t done and done right so we corrected most of them. They were charging us for some that didn’t even have cable and some that had underground lines.
There were many we could not do because the power lines were still on the ground. One of the guys stepped on the down line and ended up in the hospital. I think at one time there were 600,000 people without power. The tree limbs were ripping the power lines right off the houses. That in itself was causing a lot of damage. I heard it was costing from $1
It was nice for a change to have customers thanking us for coming out. We got cookies and candy from some of the folks. It sure beats being cussed and threatened.
Sissy...can't decide what to wear.
Gettin ready for Christmas Eve service.
